Body psychotherapy

Often we are not aware of how much our body ‘knows’,
both in a pleasant, loving sense as in an unpleasant and painful sense.
This therapy focusses on your body as a starting point.
Sometimes you suddenly experience your physical, sensory memory cristal clear. For example: cetain music or a specific odour brings back a lively memory, which can be a happy or a miserable one Sometimes you are overwhelmed by this and you may not understand the reason fully.
Is this therapy meant for me? It is if:
- you need more than your (verbal) therapy and are ‘stuck’ in your head while analyzing and over-thinking everything;
- you experience physical tension and are not (yet) aware of the cause;
- regular treatments and research can’t define a cause of your pain and are unable to solve your health problems
Our body is a valuable source of information, everything you’ve experienced is stored in your body. Sometimes you develop health problems, you become ill and visit a doctor who solves the problems through regular medical treatments. But sometimes you have a physical complaint without a clear cause. Whatever the doctor, specialist or physiotherapist does, you don’t get any or little result. Many times the cause is stress or tension which you carry with you unconsciously. People seem to have two memories, one in our ratio (brains) and the other in your feeling (the rest of your body). These two contain all your experiences.
The fact that your body has a memory, makes that it can open up a very powerful and clear way to gain insight into your complaints, which may be unexplained for years already.
During the sessions we use the ‘blended approach’ which means that parrallel to the face-to-face sessions there’s mail contact. Experience and research show that this approach speeds up the awareness process. You and the specialist decide which mix works best. You may also receive homework assignments of which you report the results by mail. The specialist responds through mail with tips, a new assignment or reflective remarks.
